Nature and name of the object, author, maker, workshop, geographical origin.

Material
Wood, bronze, silver, porcelain, glass, stone, and how the materials fit together.

Manufacture and technique
Handmade or mass-produced, tool marks, quality of workmanship.

Period and dating
Style, shapes, decoration, techniques used, marks, hallmarks and stamps.

Authenticity
Natural or artificial patina, wear consistent with age, alterations, restorations.

Condition
General condition, missing parts, cracks and splits, damage, wear, repairs.
7
Rarity and quality
Common or rare object, exceptional example, recognised workshop, original condition.
